Steffen King Amoah’s body was discovered after his family received a call from unknown persons
The family of the late immigration officer, Steffen King Amoah, has shared the harrowing account of how his body was discovered on Wednesday, July 9, 2025.
According to his nephew, Lucky Dan Mensah, the family received a call on the evening of Tuesday, July 8, alerting them to reports of a dead body found near the GBC Tower.
In an exclusive interview with GhanaWeb TV on Thursday, July 10, Lucky explained that earlier that same day, the suspect in his uncle’s murder had appeared in court.
He noted that, that evening, the family was contacted about a body that matched Steffen’s description.
The suspect, identified as Highest Bright, had been arrested on Sunday, July 6, 2025.
However, he refused to give a statement until his lawyers arrived at the police station on Monday, July 7, 2025, and attempted to secure bail.
The CID in charge denied the request, stating that bail could only be considered after a court appearance.
The suspect was arraigned on Tuesday, July 8, 2025, but was again denied bail.
“On Tuesday evening, we received a call from someone claiming that a dead body had been found near the GBC Tower at a location referred to as Comet,” Lucky recounted.
“We were asked to verify if it was the person we had been searching for. The CID instructed us to report any findings, so early the next morning, we visited the scene with them.”
“To our horror, it was indeed my uncle,” he said solemnly.
“His body had been badly burnt, and we found animals feeding on the remains.”
Meanwhile, the suspect, Highest Bright, is scheduled to reappear in court on July 23, 2025.
