I can’t say if Adu Boahen belongs to NPP or NDC – NPP MP

Member of Parliament for Kpandai Constituency, Matthew Nyindam, has distanced himself from any knowledge of Kwabena Adu Boahene, the former Director-General of the National Signals Bureau.

“I don’t know him, okay? And I’m not sure I know his political affiliations, whether he belongs to NPP or NDC—I cannot say for sure,” Nyindam stated in an interview on GHOne monitored by MyNewsGh.

When the interviewer, Serwaa Amihere, told him that Adu Boahen was part of the 2024 manifesto committee on security, Nyindam explained that his involvement does not necessarily mean he is affiliated with the ruling party.

“This man in question is a technocrat. He’s been there until we came into government. He rose through the ranks to become a director,” he added.

The MP stressed that being part of the manifesto drafting committee does not automatically make someone a political party member. “He could be an NPP member or not. Maybe somebody wanted to tap into his wisdom—that is it,” he said.

Nyindam’s remarks suggest that individuals with expertise can contribute to policy discussions regardless of political affiliations, emphasizing the importance of fair judgment before making assumptions.

Kwabena Adu-Boahene is under investigation after he allegedly diverted and embezzled up to GH¢39 million from the agency.

Attorney General and Minister of Justice Dr. Dominic Ayine made this known while addressing the media on Monday, March 24, 2025.

“We are still tracking suspect Adu-Boahene, his wife, and their assets. In the coming days, we will file the necessary charges against them,” the Attorney General stated.

It will be recalled that Kwabena Adu-Boahene was picked up by the National Investigative Bureau at the Kotoka International Airport.

His wife was subsequently picked up from their home by the NIB last week.
