Firebrand politician Hon. Ken Ohene Agyapong has expressed deep regret over the poor treatment of the Tertiary Students Confederacy of the NPP (TESCON) members by the leadership of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) while the party was in power.
Speaking at the TESCON General Meeting and Freshers’ Orientation at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) on Sunday, he recalled a recent meeting in Kintampo where members of the NPP student wing voiced their grievances.
He acknowledged their concerns, stating, “students lamented over how NPP treated TESCON when the party was in power.”
Hon. Agyapong revealed that he had already apologized on behalf of the party at the Kintampo meeting and reiterated his plea for forgiveness at KNUST.
“I sincerely apologize for whatever we did to TESCON,” he said.
Despite the party’s current opposition status, he encouraged members to remain steadfast.
“All is not lost. Do not think that we are in opposition and therefore you are going to join a party in power.
“They (NDCs) have nothing to offer. Stay where you are. Have confidence in the party.
“Nobody should lose hope and decide to join TEIN or other political fraternities,” he challenged.
With humility, Agyapong admitted that the NPP’s National Executive Committee (NEC) had learned from the mistakes that led to the party’s defeat in the 2024 general elections.
“This is the time we have to sit back and reflect solemnly on all the mistakes we made,” he emphasized.
