Former finance minister Ken Ofori-Atta has been added to the INTERPOL Red Notice database
Former Minister of Finance, Kenneth Ofori-Atta, has reacted to the accusation made against him by the Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP).
According to a report by ft.com, published on June 9, 2025, the former finance minister, in an interview with the Financial Times before an INTERPOL Red Notice was issued for him, said he was “puzzled and dismayed” over the turn of events.
The report indicated that Ofori-Atta had told the OSP to deal with his lawyers because he would “be out of the country for the next few months.”
The former finance minister also denied all the allegations levelled against him by the OSP, saying that he was not the “originating nor implementing minister” in four of the five cases the OSP has accused him of.
Specifically, the report indicated that Ofori-Atta said that he had nothing to do with the allegation pertaining to contracts signed in the power, petroleum and health sectors.
Meanwhile, the OSP has stated that the former finance minister is a suspect in five cases it is investigating:
1. Revenue Assurance Contracts: Examining agreements between Strategic Mobilisation Ghana Limited (SML) and the Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA) concerning petroleum and mineral revenue oversight.
2. National Cathedral Project: Scrutinising procurement processes and financial transactions linked to the construction of the National Cathedral.
3. Ambulance Procurement: Investigating a Ministry of Health contract with Service Ghana Auto Group Limited for the acquisition and maintenance of 307 ambulances.
4. Electricity Company Contract Termination: Assessing the circumstances surrounding the cancellation of a contract between the Electricity Company of Ghana and Beijing Xiao Cheng Technology (BXC).
5. GRA Tax P-Fund Management: Reviewing the handling and distribution of funds from the Tax P-Fund Account managed by the GRA.
