Sam George is the Minister of Communication, Digital Technology and Innovations
Minister for Communications and Member of Parliament for Ningo-Prampram, Sam George has been caught in a “dirty” brawl with a citizen on social media.
The Minister gave a caustic response to an X user after the person appealed to him to fix the roads in his constituency.
The social media user sent his plea under Sam George’s post on X but the Minister angrily hit back, which got other users to question his character.
Sam George was commenting on viral video of an Igbo (from a Nigerian tribe) claiming he had secured acres of land at a locality in Prampram and intends to develop it into a huge Igbo city to reflect the Igbo kingdom in Nigeria.
“No ‘King’ has any kingdom or land in the Ningo-Prampram Constituency. Disregard any such claims. The ancient Great Ningo kingdom is welcoming to all who visit us but none is welcome to lay claim to a kingdom here. Rest assured, we are a hospitable people but our hospitality CANNOT be taken for granted. Let calm prevail,” Sam George wrote.
An X user, in reply, expressed his concern over poor nature of roads in the Minister’s constituency, hence urging the Minister to also focus on developing roads in his constituency.
“How about fighting for your roads to be fixed,” the X user tweeted back at Sam George.
His request for good roads in Prampram was met with a fierce response from the lawmaker who told the X user to fix his brain.
“After I’ve fought for your brain to be fixed. Deal?” Sam George responded.
The citizen further replied “if that’s more important than doing your job, no problem” which earned this user an applause from other users.
The citizen, who maintained a composure, also wrote that Sam George was “exposing his true self to the world”, adding the Minister “talks about everything until it gets to when he needs to do his job”.
“Nice reply, you’ve shown maturity than the so called minister. He likes to criticize but can’t take same,” a user slammed Sam George.
Another user said; “How a random guy on X is showing maturity and composure than a sitting minister is mind boggling.”
From further responses, clearly, Sam George’s statements didn’t sit down well with some Ghanaians who found it very insensitive.
