Dr. Bryan Acheampong being prayed for during his visit Dr. Bryan Acheampong being prayed for during his visit

Dr Bryan Acheampong, Member of Parliament for Abetifi, has made a faith-driven declaration after he officially announced his intention to contest the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) flagbearer position ahead of the 2028 general elections.

In a symbolic gesture of spiritual alignment, the former Minister of Food and Agriculture visited the Moderator and members of the General Council of the Presbyterian Church of Ghana on Tuesday, June 24, 2025.

The meeting, described by Dr Acheampong as deeply moving, was filled with prayer, reflection, and anointing.

“Today, I visited the Moderator and some members of the General Council of the Presbyterian Church of Ghana. I reaffirmed the spiritual roots that have shaped my values, my leadership, and my sense of purpose. It was a deeply moving encounter filled with reflection, prayer, and anointing. Faith is not just a part of my story, it is the foundation on which it stands,” he posted on X following the visit.

Speaking to journalists shortly after the meeting, Bryan Acheampong explained that given the spiritual weight of his presidential ambition, it was important to first seek the Church’s blessings and prayerful support before moving forward.

“I want to start with God and finish with God. I’m a politician and you know how treacherous the political journey can be, and God is the requirement for a journey like this, and the requirement for life. Therefore, I needed to see the church and seek their blessings and continuous prayer while I embark on this journey,” he said.

Dr Bryan Acheampong is expected to face stiff competition from former Vice President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia and former Assin Central MP Kennedy Agyapong in the race to become the New Patriotic Party’s presidential candidate for the December 7, 2028, general elections.
