President John Dramani Mahama has revealed that he will make a special appearance on the runway during the upcoming Ghana Fashion Week in July 2025.
Speaking at the launch of the Black Star Experience in Accra on May 1, the President reaffirmed his strong support for the Ghanaian fashion industry and emphasized the need to promote homegrown talent.
“I have always championed the cause of Made-in-Ghana clothing, and I am proud to say that all my political suits are sewn by Ghanaian tailors,” President Mahama remarked.
His comment highlighted his consistent dedication to promoting local craftsmanship as a central part of his public identity.
Adding to the excitement, President Mahama announced that he would take to the catwalk three times during the fashion week, each appearance featuring a different designer.
“I will walk the catwalk, and with every step, I will share with you the names of the incredible designers behind each piece,” he continued. “This is not just an event for me, but a celebration of the talent and creativity of our people.”
Ghana Fashion Week, one of the major components of the Black Star Experience, will span seven days in July and is expected to be a key highlight of the nation’s cultural calendar.
As part of a broader government initiative to elevate Ghana’s tourism, culture, and creative arts sectors, the fashion week seeks to position the country as a global fashion destination.
The Black Star Experience—covering cinema, audio, cuisine, aesthetics, style, literature, and heritage—aims to spotlight Ghana’s dynamic creative culture and expand its footprint in the global creative economy.
The fashion showcase will feature top designers, models, and fashion industry leaders, reinforcing Ghana’s status as a thriving center of innovation and style.
