Dr. Rashid Tanko-Computer, Deputy Director of Elections and IT for the National Democratic Congress (NDC), has lashed out at Members of Parliament from the New Patriotic Party (NPP) for their protest regarding the delayed results in the Ablekuma North constituency.
In an interview on Citi Eyewitness News on Wednesday, June 4, Dr. Tanko-Computer argued that the protest lacked merit and should not have received any audience from law enforcement.
“They should be dismissed with the contempt it deserves. We are not supposed to give them any [space] of listening at all. The IGP should have arrested them,” he stated.
He alleged that irregularities occurred during the collation of results from 59 of the 62 polling stations, accusing the NPP of attempting to manipulate the outcome.
“Do you know that some of their presiding officers were running away from their scanned copies brought by the NPP because they had gone to fake figures unto the pink sheets?” he claimed.
According to Dr. Tanko-Computer, live footage captured a presiding officer refusing to accept a scanned copy from the NPP because it included a figure for rejected ballots that did not appear on the original pink sheet. Another official allegedly denied ever signing the document.
“That means that some level of criminality was conducted by the NPP,” he added.
The incident has intensified tensions between the two major political parties as they await the official announcement of the final results in the constituency.
