Minister for Sports and Recreation, Hon. Kofi Adams, has explained his role, stating emphatically that he is not a football specified Minister but rather sports as a whole.
Kofi Adams’ comments come after his regular interactions and engagements with people in the football fraternity sparked wide criticism.
The Minister has been spotted with members of the Ghana Football Association (GFA) in recent weeks after he was officially sworn into office.
Adams revealed he was formally introduced to the Executive Council Members of the GFA and technical team of the Black Stars.
Additionally, Kofi Adams has actively been attending Black Stars training sessions ahead of Ghana’s 2026 World Cup qualifiers.
Having previously stated on tv3 Sports Station that football is the heartbeat of Ghana and the Black Stars the foremost product, Kofi Adams reiterated his stance to Supersport, shedding light on his role in the process.
“I’m not Minister for football. I’m Minister for Sports and Recreation,” he said.
The Member of Parliament for Buem constituency went on to outline his plans to distribute resources fairly across all sporting disciplines.
“Every sport will get its fair share of support and attention, even non-competitive sports will get their fair attention at the national level, regional, and even below regional level. Football will continue to have its rightful place others too will grow,” he added.
