I’m not relocating to Togo; what I said about Mahama was a political talk – Lawyer Maurice Ampaw

The founder of the Legal Advocacy Foundation, Lawyer Maurice Ampaw has made a u-turn on his bold statement that he will relocate to Togo if John Dramani Mahama wins the 2024 presidential election.

Speaking on Wontumi FM, Lawyer Maurice Ampaw at the time said, “I will relocate to Togo if John Mahama becomes president again.”

With John Dramani Mahama winning the presidential election on December 7 and subsequently being sworn in as President on January 7, Lawyer Maurice Ampaw has swallowed back his words.

Speaking to GTV on Tuesday, February 4, Lawyer Maurice Ampaw explained that what he said was only a statement to ginger the grassroots of the New Patriotic Party (NPP).

He noted that he has never travelled before and does not plan to elope to Togo, knowing that Ghana is a better country.

“The NDC has won. You know during the campaign I was on the side of Bawumia and I did a lot to the NDC and did a lot of political talk. I made a lot of political statements. I even said if Mahama wins I will go to Togo. I won’t go because Ghana is better than Togo. That statement is part of a political gimmick.

“As I sit here I don’t even have a passport. I have never travelled before. I have lived in Ghana for the past 57 years. What I said was a political gimmick. It was just to ginger the people,” Lawyer Maurice Ampaw said.
