Founding member of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) Dr. Nyaho Nyaho-Tamakloe
A founding member of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Dr. Nyaho Nyaho-Tamakloe, has reaffirmed his commitment to the party, insisting that no individual or group can force him out despite his growing concerns over the current state of affairs within its leadership.
Speaking in an interview with UTV, monitored by GhanaWeb, Dr. Nyaho-Tamakloe emphasized his longstanding association with the NPP, noting that he played a pivotal role in its formation and will not be dislodged by what he described as “young ones who don’t know how the party came into existence.”
“I am a member of the party and I will forever remain a member of the party. Nobody can push me out of that party,” he said.
“There are some of these young ones who don’t know how the party came into existence, and then they talk loosely. If you want to know me very well, contact Kwame Pianim. He will tell you the type of person I am.”
Responding to a question about whether he still pays his party dues, Dr. Nyaho-Tamakloe revealed that though he still has a membership car, he has stopped contributing financially, citing what he sees as the party’s shift away from its founding ideals.
“I have stopped paying the dues because they are of no use. When you put your money in, it is just like pouring water into a basket,” he explained.
“When I noticed that the party was turning into a money-making machine, I said I have to sit up. That is what the party is now.”
Dr. Nyaho-Tamakloe’s remarks come at a time of growing internal dissent within the NPP as it prepares for the 2028 general elections. His criticisms add to a chorus of voices calling for a return to the party’s founding principles of integrity, public service, and accountability.
