Inaki ends goal drought as Bukari bags first MLS goal

As the 2026 World Cup draws near, Ghanaian players abroad are making strong cases for inclusion in Otto Addo’s Black Stars squad.

The latest round of fixtures saw several Ghanaian players deliver impressive performances, scoring crucial goals and providing assists that helped their teams secure vital wins.

3Sports assesses how some of the Ghanaian players fared during the weekend matches.

Inaki Williams, Athletic Bilbao

Inaki Williams stole the show with a goal and an assist in Athletic Bilbao’s 7-1 thrashing of Valladolid in the Spanish La Liga. This impressive display took his tally to five goals and eight assists in the league, cementing his position as the third highest scorer for Bilbao in La Liga and the second highest assist provider, just behind Barcelona’s teenage sensation Lamine Yamal who has 11 assists to his name.

 Osman Bukari,  FC Austin

Osman Bukari made a dream debut, scoring the only goal in Austin’s 1-0 win over Sporting Kansas City in the MLS season opener. This victory set the tone for Austin’s season, and Bukari’s goal-scoring account is now officially open. His clinical finish showcased his composure in front of goal, leaving fans eager to see more.

 Zubairu Ibrahim, Partizan

Zubairu Ibrahim continued his impressive form, scoring for Partizan in their 3-3 draw against arch-rivals Crvena Zvezda in the Serbian SuperLiga. With three goals in his last seven games, the 20-year-old has solidified his position as the highest scorer for Partizan in the league and the fourth African player with the highest goal tally in the Serbian topflight. His pace and skill on the ball make him a nightmare for defenders.

 Jordan Mintah, Kuching 

Jordan Mintah City FCscored for Kuching City FC in their 2-2 draw against Terengganu in the Malaysian top-flight league. Mintah’s goal showcased his ability to find space and create scoring opportunities. His contributions have been invaluable to Kuching City FC, and he continues to be a key player in their quest for league success.

 Denis Odoi, Royal Antwerp

Denis Odoi scored for Antwerp in their 2-2 draw against OH Leuven in the Belgian Pro League. The fullback now has two goals in his last four outings for the Belgian outfit. Odoi’s consistency has been impressive, and his ability to contribute to both defense and attack makes him a valuable asset to Antwerp.

 Baba Alhassan, FCSB

Baba Alhassan scored for FCSB in their 2-1 win over Din.Bucuresti in the Romanian Superliga. The Ghanaian midfielder registered his first league goal for his side at the 21st time of asking. His goal was enough to secure a narrow 2-1 victory, which helped his team grab all three points in their quest for back-to-back league glory. This breakthrough moment will undoubtedly boost Alhassan’s confidence and motivation.

As the European football season unfolds, Ghanaian players abroad will be crucial to their clubs success. With their talent, dedication, and perseverance, they will undoubtedly make a lasting impact.
