Inaki Williams was full of praise for his Athletic Club teammates despite their 4-1 defeat to Manchester United on Thursday night in the Europa League semi finals second leg.
Athletic Club shot ahead at Old Trafford 15 minutes before the break when Mikel Jauregizar struck from range to put the visitors ahead.
United responded 18 minutes from the end of the game through Mason Mount, who swivelled and turned before finding the bottom corner.
Casemiro completed the comeback for United after 80 minutes before Rasmus Hojlund added United’s third five minutes later.
Mason Mount bagged his brace in stoppage time to cap off an impressive team performance and put the result beyond Athletic Club’s reach.
United will now face Spurs in the Europa League final after beating Athletic Club 7-1 on aggregate.
“More than proud of my teammates and all the Athleticalez, Inaki Williams, who was left out of the squad due to injury,” wrote on X after the defeat.
“Thank you. We will come back stronger,” he added.
Meanwhile, United remain the only unbeaten side in European competitions this term, winning nine times and drawing five in 14 games.
The reward for United’s impressive form is an all-English final against Spurs at Athletic Bilbao’a home ground, San Mames, on May 21.
