The Minister for the Interior, Mr. Muntaka Mohammed-Mubarak, has commissioned a new 50-bed capacity Police Hospital in Kumasi, fully funded by the Police Welfare Scheme.
This facility is set to enhance healthcare accessibility for police personnel, their dependents, and the general public.
Speaking at the commissioning ceremony on Thursday, the minister commended the leadership of the Ghana Police Service and the welfare scheme custodians for their exceptional foresight, which ensures sustainable healthcare access for officers.
He emphasized that the hospital is more than just a building; it symbolizes what can be achieved when unity aligns with purpose.
Mr. Muntaka pledged the government’s commitment to ensuring the hospital is staffed, equipped, and maintained to the highest standards.
He announced that construction of the Tamale Police Hospital was 80% complete, and recruitment of medical staff for both the Tamale and Kumasi facilities was underway, with operations set to commence soon.
The minister urged the management of the Ghana Police Service to ensure a high maintenance culture to safeguard the well-being of personnel, their dependents, and, by extension, the general public.
The Director General of Welfare for the Ghana Police Service, COP Iddi Lansa Seidu, remarked that the new hospital embodies the deep values of solidarity and responsibility that underpin the service.
