Tensions between Iran, Israel and the United States have remained high for years Tensions between Iran, Israel and the United States have remained high for years

Iran has launched attacks on a U.S. military bases in Qatar and Iraq, naming the mission “Annunciation of Victory,” according to reports from Iranian state television.

The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) confirmed that the assault specifically targeted the Al Udeid Air Base, a key U.S. military installation in the Middle East that hosts thousands of American troops and serves as a central hub for U.S. air operations in the region.

In a statement, the Iranian armed forces said, “With the aggression of the American enemy, it has become clear to everyone that the evil of the Zionists is an extension of the American design.”

They further warned, “Accordingly, we remind you that in this national defense, U.S. mobile military bases and targets in the region are not points of strength but rather major weaknesses and blind spots for this war-mongering regime.”

Tensions between Iran, Israel and the United States have remained high for years, especially following the U.S. withdrawal from the 2015 Iran nuclear deal and the assassination of Iranian General Qasem Soleimani in 2020.

Recent escalations, including Iran’s growing influence in proxy conflicts and the Israel-Gaza war, have heightened regional instability.

The Al Udeid Air Base has been a critical U.S. strategic asset in the Gulf, used extensively for combat and logistical operations across the Middle East.

Following news of the attack, global oil prices spiked sharply amid concerns over potential supply disruptions in the Gulf, a key artery for international oil shipping.

As of Monday June 23, 2025, brent crude rose by more than 4% in early trading, while West Texas Intermediate (WTI) also recorded significant gains as markets reacted to the escalating tensions.

Analysts have warned that continued hostilities or retaliatory strikes could further destabilize oil markets, increase shipping risks in the Persian Gulf, and potentially trigger price volatility.

Meanwhile, the full extent of the damage from the reported attack and potential casualties has yet to be confirmed by U.S. defense officials.
