Is “The Mosquito” Calling for the Removal of President Mahama?

Mr. Johnson “The Mosquito” Asiedu-Nketia, the National Chairman of the Mahama-led 2.0 government of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), has absolutely no leadership integrity and moral credibility to pride himself about. So, it is rather comical for the wiry-framed former Sunyani-East Member of Parliament to be haughtily and smugly calling for the removal or the immediate dismissal of Ghana’s professionally finest Electoral Commission Chairperson over the past three decades, by most global accounts, namely, Mrs. Jean Adukwei Mensa, and her two unprecedentedly competent deputies, namely, Dr. Bossman Asare and Mr. Samuel Tettey (See “EC Is a Subject of Reset in Future; Jean Mensa and Two Deputies Must Go – Asiedu Nketiah[sic]” Modernghana.com 6/26/25).

The longest-reigning autocratic and imperial General-Secretary of the National Democratic Congress may be deceiving himself, if he makes the at once preposterous and egregious blunder of supposing that Ghanaians have so soon and suddenly forgotten his criminally blatant attempt to twist the arms of then Chief Justice Kwasi Anin-Yeboah-presided august Supreme Court of Ghana (SCOG) into conceding victory to a seismically defeated Candidate John “I Have No Classmates in Ghana” Dramani Mahama in the 2020 Presidential Election.

The former late President Jeremiah “Jerry” John Rawlings-appointed former Deputy Defense Minister would later shamefacedly let on to some of his fellow party colleagues, associates and stalwarts that he was fully aware of the fact of being totally and scandalously bereft of any forensically credible and sustainable evidence to back up his mendacious claim of Candidate Mahama’s having won the 2020 Presidential Election, when the recent superannuated graduate of the Ghana Armed Forces Senior-Staff College mounted the dock to virulently challenge the unimpeachable electoral victory of an incumbent twice, consecutively elected President Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo during the Mahama-led 2020 Presidential-Election Petition.

There can, therefore, be absolutely no gainsaying that if any Ghanaian leaders or gang of politicians deserves to be punitively exorcized or disciplined through the “revolutionary” or the “reactionary” process of removal from office, it is definitely the hoodlum likes of Messrs. Asiedu-Nketia, Samuel “Sammy” Gyamfi and, yes, you guessed right, Dear Reader, President John “European Airbus SE Payola” Dramani Mahama.

The “Mosquito Man” may also be deceiving himself, if he supposes, for even a split-second, that Ghanaians have so soon forgotten the “Atugubatristic” shenanigans that transpired during the Akufo-Addo, Mahamudu Bawumia and the Jake Otanka Obetsebi-Lamptey, late, led 2012-13 Presidential-Election Petition, during which the NDC-appointed Dr. Kwadwo Afari-Gyan artlessly informed the Justice William Atuguba-presided panel of nine Apex Court Jurists that the “longest-playing” Chairperson of the Electoral Commission had deliberately and criminally permitted underage minors and electorally unqualified youths to register to vote in the 2012 General Election.

The former University of Ghana’s Political Science Lecturer would also jitteringly and downright farcically inform the Apex Court Panel of Adjudicators that he could not clinically define precisely what constituted “Overvoting” and “Undervoting” in the 2012 General Election. Now, this is the caliber of the amateur Electoral Commissioner that Mr. Asiedu-Nketia would rather have manage the most sensitive institutional establishment of Ghana’s present democratic culture. No wonder, then, that it was widely rumored at the time that the University of California, Santa Barbara, doctoral-degree holder in Political Science would literally urinate and defecate in his pants before the Atuguba-presided panel of Apex Court Jurists.

In the end, not only would Messrs. Akufo-Addo and Bawumia be flagrantly and scandalously robbed of their well-deserved electoral victory, a Supreme Court-appointed President Mahama would, predictably, lavishly decorate an irredeemably disgraced Dr. Afari-Gyan on the latter’s way out of his palpably oversized and extremely poorly managed portfolio. Now, it is all to be expected that “Lt-Col.” Johnson “The Bui Dam Woyome” Asiedu-Nketia would also blindly burnish the lackluster and irreparably tainted image of “Homeboy” Dr. Kwadwo Afari-Gyan, even while also cynically and unconscionably accusing former President Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo of being guilty of running a government chock-full of friends and family members.

And by the way, the flagrant denial of the franchise to the citizens of the Guan Constituency townships of Santrokofi, Akpafu, Likpe and Lolobi, located in the Akufo-Addo-created Oti Region, is part and parcel of the dubious legacy of Dr. Kwadwo Afari-Gyan and the rest of the hoodlum pack of the leadership of the Mahama and the Asiedu-Nketia commandeered National Democratic Congress and must be squarely and fairly envisaged as such. With barely four months to the 2013 General Election, Dr. Afari-Gyan created some 40 new electoral districts and constituencies, the bulk of them in woefully underpopulated areas of the country well-known to be the electoral strongholds of the National Democratic Congress, with the number of the voting-age adults well below the recommended stipulation by Ghana’s 1992 Republican Constitution, a patent act of democratic shortchanging of the Ghanaian people that was bitterly criticized by former President John “The Gentle Giant” Agyekum-Kufuor, no bosom friend of Nana Akufo-Addo.

It is this blatant act of wanton criminality that he clearly intends to replicate, when the Pesky Mosquito luridly and repulsively talks about “Resetting the present composition of the staff and the administrators” of the Jean Adukwei Mensa-Chaired Independent Electoral Commission. By all means, let the Rawlings-junta-leader-wannabe try any such blatant act of treasonable criminality on the longsuffering but democratically resolute Ghanaian citizenry and just see what happens.
