Salam Mustapha, the National Youth Organiser of the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP), has called for unity within the party, urging members not to exacerbate the current internal tensions following the fallout from the ongoing “Thank You” tour.
Speaking to Channel One Newsroom on Saturday, May 3, Mustapha emphasized that while disagreements within the party are natural, they must be handled with care to avoid further divisions.
His comments come amidst growing calls for a suspension of the “Thank You” tour after internal wrangling, including the withdrawal of Kennedy Agyapong, a former flagbearer aspirant.
“What I will rather ask is that we do not deepen the cracks. It is okay to disagree but we should also mind the language,” Mustapha said, stressing the importance of maintaining decorum even amid differences.
Despite the controversy surrounding Agyapong’s pull-out, Mustapha remains optimistic that the tour will continue without disruption. He pointed out that the Thank You tour was progressing steadily, with recent events in the Bono East and Savannah regions running smoothly.
The NPP now faces the challenge of unifying its members and ensuring that the tour continues without further internal strife.
