The Acting Chief Executive Officer of the Ghana Shippers’ Authority, Professor Ransford Gyampo, has clapped back at the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) 2024 campaign spokesperson, Dennis Miracles Aboagye.
Miracles, who has been on a hiatus since the party’s defeat in the 2024 elections, claimed in an interview on Asempa FM that Prof. Gyampo’s recent appointment proves he is a member of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) and that he intentionally campaigned for them.
He further alleged that the political scientist had more access to former President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo and former Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, even communicating with them via WhatsApp.
However, in a social media post on Monday, March 10, Prof. Gyampo dismissed Miracles’ claims, describing his argument as a sign of “littleness of mind” for suggesting that governments should only appoint members of their own party.
“Can’t we ever have sensible leaders who, in appreciating the enormity of the task of development, endeavor to assemble national brains to work?
“Is it not a show of littleness of mind to argue that a government must appoint only people who belong to its party to help govern? Must a political appointment necessarily make the appointee a party member?” he quizzed.
The outspoken political scientist further declared his intent to continue criticising the NPP despite his new role.
“I will resume talking about your party to Ghanaians alongside whatever I am doing. You and your party must show stamina as I go on this tangent.
“I have the stamina to withstand you and your party, so you too, talk about me to Ghanaians and let’s see who gets listened to,” he fired back.
