The Jospong Group has initiated a strategic business development and market penetration engagement with Kenyan officials, especially the Governor of Mombasa County, which forms part of the broad objective of the Africa Expansion Project.
Dr. Joseph Siaw Agyepong, Executive Chairman of the Jospong Group of Companies, explained that the Jospong Group has rolled out a pragmatic project to turn Africa’s sanitation challenges into engines of opportunity and growth.
“Africa is ready—and Mombasa is a key partner in this transformative agenda,” Dr Agyepong stated during a working visit to Mombasa, Kenya, where he held tactical meetings with the Governor of Mombasa County, H.E. Abdullswamad Sherrif Nassir.
The high-level meeting focused on building a strong partnership to enhance sustainable waste management in Mombasa, using innovative solutions to tackle sanitation challenges while creating economic opportunities for local communities.
The Jospong Group Executive Chairman told the Modern Ghana News Network in an interview on the sidelines of the meeting that the expansion into Kenya is not just about growth; it’s about sharing experience, building local capacity, and supporting African-led development.
“Together, we can reimagine the future of waste management on the continent. With over 60 subsidiaries operating in diverse sectors, Jospong Group continues to champion African excellence through innovative, sustainable, and inclusive business models,” he stated.
Dr Agyepong reiterated the call on African investors and business leaders to join forces in liberating the continent from economic dependence, stressing that the economic independence of Africa is not the responsibility of politicians, but rather that of African business leaders.
He explained that “economic independence hinges on entrepreneurship, investment, inter- and intra-continent trading, and removing barriers to our movement within the continent.”
Dr. Agyepong emphasised that politicians fought for political independence, and now it’s time for business leaders to fight for economic independence.
He stressed that Africa has the capacity to be competitive with other markets through a united front. We must utilise the size of the continent, the abundant natural resources, the huge labour force, and the enabling environment, including the conducive climatic environment, to stand and defend the continent from exploitation.
He called for economic regional integration through deepening regional coordination and cooperation to boost intra-African trade and investment, which must be led by African business leaders, not politicians.
He also emphasised private sector leadership through coordinated empowerment of the private sector to drive economic diplomacy and transformation and offer innovative solutions through developing and implementing innovative solutions to address pressing challenges, such as waste management and climate change.
The Jospong Group Executive Chairman also called for cross-border collaboration, stressing the dismantling of barriers and building a new economic architecture rooted in regional solidarity and practical collaboration.
Governor Nassir, who welcomed the Jospong Group delegation, expressed strong interest in collaborating with the group, acknowledging its proven track record across the continent.
The Governor of Mombasa emphasised the need for practical solutions that can deliver immediate impact while laying the foundation for long-term environmental resilience.
Jospong Group already has advanced operations in other countries on the continent, where it is successfully deploying scalable waste management systems, creating jobs, and promoting a circular economy.
