Keep your eyes on us – MOBA 2015 marks inauguration with a promise to lead and serve

The Mfantsipim Old Boys Association (MOBA) has officially welcomed the Class of 2015 into its fold, marking a decade in their journey from students to full-fledged alumni of “The School.”

The ceremony, held at the Ridge Church in Accra, brought together old boys from the ‘95 year group, other year groups, mentors, family, and well-wishers, as MOBA 2015 stepped fully into its role within the fraternity’s legacy of excellence, discipline, and service.

Delivering a message on behalf of the newly inducted group, Eric Boampong, President of MOBA 2015, reflected on the journey that had brought the class to this defining moment, a decade after completing secondary school.

“Today marks another important step in our journey as a class and as part of our larger MOBA fraternity. As we reflect on how far we’ve come, we are reminded that bonds were formed, brotherhood was created, and fellowship was had. MOBA 2015 remains committed to giving back, growing together, and upholding the values that have shaped us,” he said.

Boampong also acknowledged the collective support of the year group and remembered members who had passed away, pledging to honour their memory through continued commitment to service and unity.

The event’s keynote address was delivered by DSP Godwin Ahianyo, a proud member of MOBA 1995, who congratulated the 2015 year group on their new chapter.

Drawing inspiration from global icons such as JFK, Martin Luther King Jr., and Nelson Mandela, he urged the group to embrace leadership not merely by position, but by impact.

“Legacy is not something to inherit passively; it is a call to action,” Ahianyo stated. “You are now the torchbearers of this great tradition. Your success is tied to your brothers; your legacy is linked to each other’s commitment.”

He challenged the class to move “from nostalgia to impact, from memories to mission,” encouraging them to use their platforms, big or small, to mentor, uplift, and serve. Also addressing the gathering was David Addo-Ashong, a respected lawyer and mentor to the group, who praised MOBA 2015 for their energy, style, and unity.

“I’ve never seen a more spirited or better-dressed year group,” he quipped. “Today marks your entry into a proud brotherhood that has stood for over 150 years. It opens doors, builds networks, and as much is given, much is expected.”

He reminded the group of their responsibility to uphold the school’s name and values in all things, urging them to let their words and actions reflect the pride of being a Botwe boy.

The ceremony concluded with a charge to the newly inducted old boys to deepen their involvement in MOBA activities, mentor younger generations, and contribute meaningfully to the school’s growth and development.

“Keep your eyes on us,” Boampong said. “We’re coming. And we’re going to make you proud.”
