The former Managing Director of GIHOC Distilleries, Maxwell Kofi Jumah, has been granted bail set at GH¢500,000 with two sureties, following his arrest on Sunday, June 29, 2025, over the alleged theft of company vehicles.

Kofi Jumah secured bail on Monday, June 30,2025, after presenting himself at the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) headquarters, where he had been held as part of an ongoing probe into the matter.

The Ghana Police Service confirmed the arrest during a media briefing led by Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCOP) Lydia Yaako Donkor on Monday, June 30, 2025.

According to her, the action was taken after GIHOC Distilleries lodged an official complaint alleging that Kofi Jumah retained some company vehicles unlawfully after exiting his position.

“We received a petition indicating that certain vehicles belonging to GIHOC Distilleries were in the possession of the former MD, Maxwell Kofi Jumah, without proper authorization,” DCOP Donkor stated.

She also revealed that the police had successfully retrieved three of the vehicles tied to the case.

“We have so far recovered three of the missing vehicles, our next steps will be guided by the evidence available”, she added.
