Korea Week 2025: A celebration of culture, connection, and rise of fierce crew GH

On Saturday, May 24, 2025, the Embassy of the Republic of Korea to Ghana hosted its annual Korea Week Festival, bringing a vibrant burst of colour and culture to the ISSER Conference Hall at the University of Ghana.

Now one of the most eagerly anticipated events for lovers of Korean culture and general cultural enthusiasts, the festival saw increased participation across multiple categories from competitions to cultural displays, and a large, energetic audience.

The event united Ghanaians and Koreans through shared passions: food, K-pop, language, and the enduring global influence of Korean culture.

This year’s festivities included the Jeonmun (speech) contest, Hobansik cooking competition (featuring Yangnyeom chicken), and a cultural corner, where participants played traditional Korean games and dressed in hanbok.

But for many, the highlight was the K-pop Festival – a celebration of dance, music, and cross-cultural love.

2025 also marked the debut of Fierce Crew GH, an all-female performance group born out of years of individual participation in this very festival.

United by their admiration for Korean culture, the group includes professionals in communications, finance, law, and health – all former finalists of previous K-pop contests. Among them: Esi K. Acquah (2021 runner-up), Laurel Pinamang Adu-Adjei (2022 winner), Kezia (2022 second runner-up), and Marie-Ann Adae (2024 second runner-up).

Their performance was more than a debut. it was a symbol. Like the many acts that graced the stage, Fierce Crew GH represents the power of cultural exchange.

As Korea Week continues to foster connection through language, cuisine, and creativity, groups like this reflect the future of Ghana-Korea relations: youthful, passionate, and proudly collaborative.
