Newly appointed Asante Kotoko Technical Director and interim head coach, Karim Zito, has observed a worrying level of comfort among the club’s players something he believes could make them lose sight of their ultimate goals.
Speaking during his official unveiling, Zito revealed that he’s already visited the club’s facility and interacted with the players, where he noted the relaxed atmosphere.
“We met the players and observed their challenges, many of them. When we visited the clubhouse, I noticed how comfortable they feel there. Sometimes, when people become too comfortable, they forget their purpose in life,” he said. “I don’t know about Hearts of Oak, but I know Dreams FC. Comfort can be dangerous if not managed properly.”
Zito, who replaces Prosper Narteh Ogum, takes charge of a Kotoko side currently sitting fourth on the league table, six points behind leaders Bibiani Gold Stars with six matches left in the 2024/25 Ghana Premier League season.
A former Kotoko player and coach, Zito returns to the club with a wealth of experience, having led Ghana’s U-20 team to the 2021 AFCON title and most recently guiding Dreams FC to the CAF Confederation Cup semi-finals.
With his deep understanding of the club’s ethos and proven track record, Zito is expected to refocus the squad, inject a sense of urgency, and establish a stronger identity as Kotoko push for a strong finish and long-term success.
