Former Liverpool legend Jamie Carragher has shared his candid assessment of Mohammed Kudus’ current season, describing it as underwhelming compared to the Ghanaian’s impressive debut campaign with West Ham.
After bursting onto the scene with 14 goal contributions in his first season, Kudus has struggled to replicate his form this term, managing only 7 goal contributions.
“Last season, he was fantastic. He just hasn’t looked the same player this season” Carragher said on Sky Sports.
Despite the dip in form, Carragher notes that Kudus’ exceptional debut season is a promising sign for his potential.
“Kudus might think this is an off-season for him, and last season was the real Kudus, and we get that type of player; It’s a good sign.”
While he acknowledges that players can have varying seasons, Carragher hints that West Ham’s financial needs might lead to a potential sale.
“I won’t be surprised if there’s a change there somewhere because West Ham need the money. ”
Atletico Madrid’s reported interest in Kudus adds fuel to the speculation surrounding the Ghanaian playmaker’s future.
The former Right to Dream Academy graduate has three assists and four goals in 30 Premier League appearances this season—an encouraging return for the former Ajax star in his campaign in English football.
