Kumasi Second-hand Clothing Dealers declare support for Dr. Adutwum’s NPP flagbearership bid

Second-hand clothing dealers in Kumasi have thrown their weight behind former Education Minister Dr. Yaw Osei Adutwum, declaring him the ideal candidate to lead the New Patriotic Party (NPP) into the 2028 general elections.

The traders, who describe themselves as dedicated members of the NPP, praised Dr. Adutwum for his humility, strong work ethic, and transformative leadership in the education sector, particularly highlighting his contributions to STEM and TVET education.

They believe these qualities make him the party’s best hope for victory in the next election cycle.

Addressing journalists on Monday, the group insisted that none of the other contenders matches Dr. Adutwum’s political and leadership capabilities.

“Among the list of individuals who have expressed interest for the enviable position, Dr. Adutwum stands tall,” one of the traders said, adding that the former minister’s track record speaks volumes.

Georgina Osei, one of the traders, commended Dr. Adutwum’s pivotal role in enhancing the Free Senior High School policy after taking over from Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh.

She said, “We need him as our flagbearer and President to restore the good image of Free Education policy,” expressing concern that the current government’s handling of the initiative had undermined its progress.

David Osei Kuffour, an executive member of the Ashanti Second-hand Shoe Sellers Association, also cited Dr. Adutwum’s educational achievements both in Ghana and abroad as proof of his competence and leadership.

“The education establishments of Dr. Adutwum in the diaspora, coupled with his performance in the education sector clearly show he deserves the position,” he said, urging NPP delegates to rally behind him in the flagbearership race.
