Kwabena Adu-Boahene’s wife accused of destroying evidence in corruption case

Angela Adjei Boateng, the wife of embattled former National Signals Bureau (NSB) Director-General Kwabena Adu-Boahene, has been accused of tampering with evidence in the ongoing corruption case against them.

Deputy Attorney General Justice Srem Sai told the court on Friday, March 28, that Angela attempted to interfere with evidence by scattering a suitcase believed to contain currency bills after being informed of her husband’s arrest.

“Very finally, as deposed to in the affidavit in opposition, in paragraph 14(k), when the first applicant, Kwabena Adu-Boahene, was arrested, he was immediately put in touch with the second applicant, his wife Angela Adjei Boateng.

“Between the time of notification of the first applicant’s arrest and the following morning, CCTV recordings reveal that the second applicant scattered suitcases believed to contain currency bills.

“The argument here is that any bail condition more favourable than the current one poses the risk – one of flight risk and secondly interference with evidence and for that matter administration of justice,” he stated.

The latest revelation is expected to add further complexity to the high-profile case, as prosecutors argue that granting lenient bail conditions could pose a flight risk and hinder the pursuit of justice.
