The Volta Regional Council of State Member, Gabriel Tanko Kwamigah-Atokple, has funded the expenses for an ongoing water project at Sokode Ando, a community in the Ho Central Municipality of the Volta Region.

The project, a mechanised borehole, is expected to provide potable and clean drinking water for the community upon completion, at an estimated cost of GH¢60,000.

Explaining his reasons for covering the cost, Kwamigah-Atokple, speaking as the Special Guest of Honour at the Volta College Foundation’s (VCF) 5th Anniversary celebration on July 5, 2025, stated that the initiative aligns with his development agenda as a Council of State member.

He emphasised that his vision is to ensure reliable access to clean water in underdeveloped communities across the region.

“The anniversary event also focused on a meaningful cause: a fundraising drive to construct a mechanized borehole for the people of Sokode Ando in the Ho Central Municipality. This is a community where even the local Health Center does not have access to clean water. Safe drinking water is not a luxury; it is a necessity.

“I pledged to cover the full cost of the water project for the people of Sokode Ando, valued at GH¢60,000. This aligns with my broader development agenda as a Member of the Council of State, particularly the goal of ensuring access to potable water in underserved communities across all districts in the Volta Region,” he stated.

Kwamigah-Atokple also took the opportunity to commend the Volta College Foundation for its dedicated efforts toward advancing development and social progress across the Volta and Oti Regions, highlighting its alignment with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) through its various initiatives.
