Labour Commission Executive Secretary Ofosu Asamoah sacked

The government has terminated the appointment of Mr. Ofosu Asamoah, the Executive Secretary of the National Labour Commission (NLC), sources close to the Presidency have confirmed.

Mr. Asamoah, a lawyer and former New Patriotic Party (NPP) Member of Parliament for the Kade constituency in the Eastern Region, had served as Executive Secretary of the Commission since 2017.

During his tenure at the National Labour Commission, Ofosu Asamoah played a central role in mediating labour disputes, including negotiations between government and various public sector unions.

His legal and parliamentary experience was often cited as an asset in handling sensitive industrial relations matters.

Prior to his appointment to the NLC, Mr. Asamoah served multiple terms in Parliament and was once the Deputy Majority Chief Whip.

He is also known for his work on constitutional and legal affairs while in Parliament.

Though the Presidency has yet to release a formal statement, his departure marks the second high-profile exit in the labour sector within days, following the reported dismissal of Fair Wages and Salaries Commission CEO, Benjamin Arthur .

It remains unclear who will replace him as Executive Secretary. Government is expected to announce a new appointment in the coming days.

Efforts to reach Mr. Asamoah for comment have so far been unsuccessful.
