LEC Group, MTN host 2025 National Youth Empowerment Summit at KNUST

The Leadership Empowerment Club (LEC Group), in partnership with MTN Ghana, successfully held the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) edition of the 2025 National Youth Empowerment Summit and Awards.

The event took place on Saturday, June 28, 2025, at the Faculty of Law Auditorium at KNUST, bringing together hundreds of young participants eager to learn, grow, and transform their futures.

Now in its fourth edition, the summit continues to serve as a platform for empowering young people with practical skills, motivation, and mentorship. The initiative focuses on leadership development, entrepreneurial training, and career guidance for youth in Ghana and across the continent.

This year’s summit featured an impressive lineup of speakers from leading institutions such as MTN Ghana, GCB Bank PLC, InvestCorp, and Bel Beverages Company Limited. Each speaker offered valuable insights on topics ranging from financial literacy and entrepreneurship to purpose-driven living and personal development.

Empowerment Through Mentorship and Skills Development

Rosemary Atta Konadu, Head of Retail Shop at MTN Ghana, delivered a powerful presentation on the theme of personal growth. She encouraged participants to “STRETCH” beyond their comfort zones in pursuit of their goals.

Breaking down the acronym STRETCH, she urged the youth to be:

Sensitive to time management

Tactical in execution

Resourceful in every opportunity

Engaged with the right networks

Thoughtful about long-term goals

Committed to continuous improvement

Hopeful about their future

She expressed concern that many young people are not pushing themselves hard enough to reach their full potential.

“They are comfortable in their zones. They want to make it, but don’t want to go that extra mile,” she said.

Building a Culture of Investment
Albert Prempeh Kusi, CEO of LEC Group, emphasized the importance of developing an investment mindset at an early age. He advised young people to consistently set aside a portion of their income, no matter how small, to build long-term wealth.

“They shouldn’t spend all the money that comes their way,” he said. “They must focus on building wealth by putting a portion aside. In doing that, they’ll be able to achieve so much in life.”

He bemoaned the prevailing culture among many African youth who, he said, often spend impulsively without thinking of the future.

“Many Africans are broke because they think money will always be there. That mentality must change,” he added.

Impact and Future Prospects
The summit aligns with MTN Ghana’s broader mentorship and digital empowerment programs, which aim to bridge the technology and opportunity gap among Ghanaian youth. The company continues to support initiatives that equip young people with digital skills, entrepreneurial tools, and professional mentorship to navigate the evolving job market.

Participants at the summit walked away with not just inspiration but also actionable steps to improve their financial literacy, professional growth, and leadership capacity.

As the LEC Group and MTN Ghana continue to champion youth development, the National Youth Empowerment Summit remains a vital tool for unlocking the potential of Ghana’s next generation of leaders.
