“Let politicians fight politicians” — Ex-GBA President Kotei Neequaye declares war on Kofi Adams and Nii Lante Vanderpuye

Former Ghana Boxing Authority (GBA) President Abraham Kotei Neequaye has launched a blistering attack on Minister of Sports and Recreation, Kofi Adams, and former Sports Minister, Nii Lante Vanderpuye, vowing to confront both men head-on following his resignation.

Speaking at a press conference on Monday, June 30, 2025, Neequaye confirmed he was stepping away from sports administration to return fully to frontline politics, expressing deep frustration over what he described as political sabotage within Ghana’s sporting landscape.

“The Minister told me to my face that he can’t work with me. Fine — I’m a politician, he’s a politician. I’m leaving sports so we can go back and fight,” Neequaye said, his tone laced with both anger and resolve.

Rejecting any notion of using the GBA as a battleground, he reiterated his commitment to keeping sports independent from political interference.

“I’ve always said sports should stand alone. Let politicians fight politicians — not hijack institutions meant to develop talent,” he declared.

In a direct and personal challenge, Neequaye didn’t mince words:

“You don’t have that right, Kofi Adams. I will fight you — and I’ll fight Nii Lantey too.”

Following his dramatic resignation, 2nd Vice President Roger Barnor has now taken over leadership as the new President of the Ghana Boxing Authority.
