Dear critical reader, it’s said that health is wealth. This wellness truism stems from the fact that sick people are invariably unproductive in terms of GDP growth metrics. That’s why we must demand that Ghanaian officialdom stops the debasing of one of the world’s best and most affordable probiotic staple foods: kenkey (both Ga and Fanti).
The abomination lies in the use of clear plastic covers to wrap kenkey balls individually, and selling them in bulk in plastic-lined aluminium pans. Shocking, unpardonable, and unacceptable! This “modernity fad” makes kenkey a source of ingested microplastics, harming human health and littering the environment. Enough is enough, Haaba!
Before Europeans first arrived on our shores in 1471, we cooked and ate organic produce, living long, healthy lives. If health is wealth, let’s stand up for our traditional foods served in leaves with immune-boosting properties, oooo, wai, Ghanafuor! Yoooooooo. A word to the wise…
