Ludwig Teye Totimeh has been unanimously confirmed as the new Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) for Tema West following a Special General Assembly Meeting held on Thursday, May 2025.

Mr. Totimeh secured all 30 valid votes cast, representing 100% endorsement by the Assembly Members, surpassing the two-thirds majority required under Section 20 of the Local Governance Act, 2016 (Act 936).

The election was conducted by officials of the Electoral Commission (EC).

The Greater Accra Regional Minister, Linda Obenewaa Akweley Ocloo, who supervised the voting process, commended the Assembly Members for their unity and called on them to continue upholding their constitutional duties.

In his acceptance speech, Mr. Totimeh expressed his gratitude to President John Dramani Mahama for the appointment and pledged to work tirelessly to deliver development for the people of Tema West.

“First and foremost, I thank Almighty God for this opportunity, and I am profoundly grateful to H.E. John Dramani Mahama for the confidence he has placed in me,” he said. “I also extend my appreciation to the party executives, traditional leaders, and all stakeholders who have supported me.”

He assured the assembly and the community of an inclusive leadership approach. “I want to assure the Unit Committee Members that I will work closely with you and include you in all decision-making processes to bring development to every corner of Tema West,” he emphasized.

The confirmation ceremony attracted several dignitaries, including Dr. Samuel Ofosu Ampofo, Policy Advisor for Political Affairs at the Office of the Vice President and former National Chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC).

In his remarks, Dr. Ofosu Ampofo assured residents that Tema West would benefit from national development initiatives. “Tema West will not be left out. You will receive your fair share of the national cake,” he stated.
