Mahama Faces Sabotage Threat From NPP Remnants In His Government

President John Mahama reorganized several administrations after the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) won the 2024 elections. One of the changes is sacking the previous government’s workers and filling in new ones. However, hundreds of the NPP politicians who are still in his government have no desire to work for the new president to succeed. Instead, they intend to undermine and sabotage President Mahama’s progress to give the impression that he has failed.

The NPP was a government that had never given respect or care to Ghanaians. It is clear to anyone who is not even a psychologist that it is a political party that prioritizes its survival. The government’s policies, which are based on their printed book “Agyapadie,” are the best example to back up my claim, responsible for widespread corruption, money laundering, and the looting of state property, resulting in the collapse of the nation’s once thriving economy, businesses, and investments.

The president of a nation must go by the effective standards that a company’s director must follow to operate a profitable business. Since the president’s drive and diligence serve as the means to motivate the government’s employees or ministers to demonstrate competence, the responsibility is usually placed on him when the government fails. Thus, the former minister for communication and digitalization, Ursula Owusu, shouldn’t be upset about those blaming Akufo-Addo for the party’s 2024 election defeat.

There are undoubtedly a lot of NPP politicians who are upset about the 2024 election defeat and want to undermine the new government so that it will make the top headline news that “Mahama has failed,” as we told you. The NPP remnants serving in the NDC’s administration have no desire to support Ghana’s development in Mahama’s governance. Since their goal is to allow the NPP to regain power, they are actively trying to bring down the government either by arson or bankruptcy.

Akufo-Addo appointed many NPP members a few days before leaving office. He had a reason also for appointing the highest number of judges to the Supreme Court, too. Why did he issue 318 mining licenses just days before leaving office? All of those appointments were made with the intention of sabotaging Mahama’s government. The significance of the former president’s appointment is to serve as informants or spies to provide information to important members of the opposition party.

It sounds like a scene from a movie, but it actually happened when the security force stormed into the residence of the former governor of the Bank of Ghana and found that gadgets connected to the bank’s headquarters had been set up so he could collect data on the employees there. In addition to other offenses like the unlawful printing of new currency and the financial loss, this is an espionage crime. However, Addison, who should have spent many years in prison, is a free man.

Is Mahama’s administration having trouble with a lot of issues that require funds to solve them but doesn’t have any? After all the campaigns and sacrifices the majority of Ghanaians made to help the party win in 2024, many are restless and occasionally fear Mahama will let them down. Ghana has been irreparably damaged by corruption, which has killed many people, including pensioners. However, no one has been prosecuted despite the ORAL team’s report pointing to significant corruption scandals.

The Akufo-Addo-Bawumia administration has been the most destructive regime in Ghana’s political history. Though John Jerry Rawlings put to death Kutu Acheampong, Akwasi Amankwaa Afrifa, and others, the financial crimes committed by NPP politicians such as Eugene Arhin, Cecilia Dapaah, Ken Ofori-Atta, Akufo-Addo, Mahamudu Bawumia, Victor Kusi-Boateng, Bryan Acheampong, Alexander Afenyo-Markin, and many others cannot be compared to those who were executed.

Three questions arise when NPP’s crimes are taken into account: For what reason is the NPP still a political party? For whom are they doing their campaigns? Why do people who are embroiled in major corruption scandals continue to live contentedly in their homes? I have a warning for President John Mahama: he needs to exercise extreme caution because he has more opponents than friends who hate him so much that they would ensure his failure even if he does his best to build Ghana.

His battle against corruption shouldn’t be a failure because, in spite of all his accomplishments, he was accused of being corrupt and incompetent. Mahama and his ORAL team are complete failures if they are unable to apprehend, prosecute, and imprison any corrupt politician. Additionally, that will incite the young people who supported him to turn against him, which might lead to unanticipated catastrophe for him in a number of areas before the 2028 elections.

President John Mahama has two options: either he allows the opposition NPP members occupying various institutions to undermine and sabotage his government or should face the criticism for removing all of them from office to run a successful government to sustain the economy.
