A National Executive Member of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Cecilia Asaga, has stated that the administration of President John Dramani Mahama is demonstrating a clear commitment to results-driven governance across sectors.

Speaking at a community engagement in the Anyaa-Sowutuom Constituency on Sunday, Asaga said the government’s early achievements are proof that it is focused on action rather than political rhetoric.

“This is not a government of rhetoric. This is a government of results. These are not promises – these are deliverables,” she told party supporters and local stakeholders.

The engagement, organised by the NDC Christ Redeem Church Branches in Lomnava Ward, was held under the theme “Delivering Our Promise, Resetting Ghana: The Power of the Branch.”

Cecilia Asaga said the theme reflects the party’s firm belief that progress must begin from the grassroots and be anchored in service.

According to her, the NDC government assumed office under difficult economic conditions but has remained determined to restore stability and improve livelihoods.

“We inherited a broken economy, but the NDC came ready to work, not complain. We’re not here to complain; we came to rebuild Ghana,” she said.

Asaga outlined several flagship programmes that have already been rolled out, including the Adwumawura Programme, which supports young entrepreneurs; a national apprenticeship scheme for non-tertiary youth; and the Work Abroad Initiative, which opens safe and legal migration pathways for skilled workers.

She also pointed to the rollout of the Feed Ghana Programme to support agriculture and food production.

According to her, these efforts are already yielding results, with inflation declining, the cedi stabilising, with investor confidence gradually returning.

In education, Asaga praised the full free tertiary fees policy for all first-year students, alongside the 1 Million Coders Programme aimed at equipping the youth with relevant digital skills to compete globally.

The government, she said, has also taken steps to reduce the size of government by cutting down ministerial appointments and trimming the presidential staff, demonstrating a clear commitment to prudent governance.

“We’re creating jobs; not slogans,” she stressed, announcing that following the presentation of the Mid-Year Budget Statement on Thursday, July 24, the government will commence mass recruitments into the police, immigration, fire service, education, and health sectors.

On local development, Asaga assured constituents that Anyaa-Sowutuom will no longer be treated as a neglected or ‘orphan’ constituency.

She emphasised the NDC’s inclusive development agenda, promising that more infrastructure, services, and jobs are on the way.

She commended the unwavering work of the party’s branch structures, calling them the ‘engine of mobilisation and delivery.’

“Our power lies at the branch level. It is the branches that keep us grounded and responsive,” she added, pledging continued support for local executives and volunteers.

Cecilia Asaga was joined at the event by constituency executives, community leaders, and the Municipal Chief Executive for Ga Central, Emmanuel Adotey Allotey, who also outlined major upcoming development projects in the municipality.
