The National Youth Wing of the New Patriotic (NPP) has raised concern about the first month of President John Dramani Mahama’s four-year tenure.
In a press release signed by National Youth Organiser Salam Mustapha, the NPP National Youth Wing accused the new government of scamming Ghanaians over reported plans to cancel the Nursing and Teacher trainee allowances.
According to the NPP National Youth Wing, it is shocked that Mahama’s government is already backtracking on its promises in its first month in office.
“Just one month into office. President John Mahama’s government is showing signs of being a scam on the good people of Ghana and especially students. Knowing Mahama’s track record, we knew he will renege on his campaign promises but shocking to us, is how soon it has begun.
“We are gobsmacked to notice the intention to cancel teacher and nursing training allowances in flagrant contrast to their promise to rather be prompt on payments during the 2024 elections campaign. This amounts to deception and smacks of scam as these students fell for the promises of the NDC and voted massively for same,” the NPP National Youth Wing said in its press release.
The group is demanding that the new government act in truth and good spirit and maintain the nursing and teacher trainee allowances, not just because it was their campaign promise, but how the students benefit from same.
