Samuel Koku Anyidoho, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the MILLS Institute, has praised President John Dramani Mahama for suspending post-retirement contract appointments for public servants.
The former Deputy General Secretary of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) noted that he has been advocating for the abolishment of such contracts for a very long time.
In a social media post on Tuesday, April 8, Koku Anyidoho described the policy as discriminatory against the younger generation in favour of those who have already reached the peak of their careers.
“Excellent! This is a policy I have, in conjunction with MILLS Institute, championed for its scrapping bcos it is NOT fair & discriminatory in favour of people who have already hit the zenith of their profession. I am elated & MILLS Institute says, congratulations. Ghana first,” he wrote.
His remarks follow President John Dramani Mahama’s directive suspending all post-retirement contract appointments for public servants.
The directive, contained in a letter dated April 2 and signed by Dr. Calistus Mahama, Executive Secretary to the President, stated that all requests for such appointments will no longer be considered.
“The grant of post-retirement contract appointments to retired public service staff has been suspended with immediate effect. Consequently, all requests for such appointments will no longer be considered. Kindly take note of this directive and ensure strict compliance,” the letter stated.
