Madam Iris Dalaba, the Metropolitan Planning Officer for New Juaben South in the Eastern Region, has urged Ghanaians to prioritize their health despite their busy schedules.
Speaking at the maiden edition of Health Talk and Aerobics held at Koforidua Jackson Park on Saturday, Madam Dalaba stressed the importance of regular physical exercise, describing it as a key component of maintaining good health.
She specifically encouraged the youth to take an active interest in their health by participating in wellness activities, emphasizing that staying active and physically fit is essential for meeting the demands of daily life.
Also speaking at the event, Madam Gladys Adu of the National Commission for Civic Education (NCCE) educated participants—mostly young people—on their civic responsibilities as citizens of Ghana. She urged the youth to hold duty bearers accountable and participate actively in national discourse.
Madam Adu also expressed concern about the increasing abuse of illegal drugs among the youth and called on participants to become positive influencers and agents of change in their communities.
Meanwhile, the Portfolio Manager of STAR-Ghana Foundation, Raymond Danso, reaffirmed the foundation’s commitment to youth development. He assured the various groups present of continued support, expressing optimism that such events would not only promote youth growth but also foster community engagement and experience-sharing.
Some participants thanked the organizers for the initiative and noted the event’s benefits to their personal health and well-being.
The event was organized by the New Juaben South Metropolitan Assembly with support from STAR-Ghana Foundation as part of the KOFKRO project. Partner organizations included DMAC Foundation, BBF, Youth Parliament, NYA, NCCE, AFES Ghana, and NSS.
