Nana Agyakoma Dufie II, the Queen mother of the Asante Mampong
The Asante Mampong Traditional Area has made a passionate call for unity and collective development as the community awaits the installation of a new paramount chief following the passing of the late Daasebre Osei Bonsu II.
At a colorful celebration of the Akwasidae festival in Mampong, the Acting President of the Mampong Traditional Council and Chief of Asante Effiduase, Nana Adu Ameyaw II, called on the people to put aside their individual and factional differences and work together in the spirit of peace and cooperation.
He stressed that development can only thrive in an environment of unity, mutual respect, and shared purpose, especially during this transitional period.
“We cannot allow division to derail the legacy of our late Omanhene, Daasebre Osei Bonsu II. Unity is the key to moving Mampong forward. Let us come together as one people to support development efforts in education, health, sanitation, and youth empowerment,” Nana Adu Ameyaw II stated.
The chief also used the occasion to express his heartfelt appreciation to the Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, other traditional leaders, and all citizens who supported the Mampong Traditional Council during the final funeral rites of the late Omanhene.
Adding his voice, the Chief of Seniagya, Nana Kissi Amoah, urged the people of Mampong to exercise patience and embrace peace as the process for selecting a new paramount chief unfolds.
He reminded the community that the selection of a new leader must be devoid of conflict and personal interest and should instead reflect the collective will and dignity of the Mampong state.
“We must be ready to accept whoever is enstooled as the next Omanhene. Our strength lies in our unity, and we must not allow succession matters to divide us. Mampong deserves peace, and the development of our town must be our top priority,” Nana Kissi Amoah advised.
The Akwasidae festival brought together chiefs, queen mothers, elders, youth groups, and indigenes of Mampong, who all reaffirmed their commitment to preserving tradition while championing the socio-economic growth of the area.
