Correspondence from Eastern Region

A tragic road accident on the Bunso-Koforidua highway near Osiem, close to the Saviour Mortuary, has claimed the life of a motor rider believed to be in his 30s. The incident occurred at approximately 9:00 am on Friday, June 14, 2025.

The deceased, identified only as Isaiah, reportedly attempted a wrongful overtaking and collided with a Hyundai vehicle with registration number GR 5856-22. The vehicle, which had 12 persons on board, was en route to a funeral in Koforidua-Asokore.

Isaiah died on the spot, and his body was deposited at the Saviour Memorial Hospital Morgue in Osiem.

The 12 passengers, who sustained minor injuries, are currently receiving treatment at the Saviour Hospital.

Eyewitnesses report that in the aftermath of the accident, some individuals who arrived to offer help allegedly stole mobile phones and cash belonging to the deceased and other victims.

This shameful act has drawn strong public condemnation.

The Akyem Tafo Police Command has commenced investigations into both the cause of the accident and the reported thefts.

Authorities urge the public to assist with any information that may support the ongoing investigation
