The Marigold Foundation, in collaboration with the Rotary Clubs of Chicago, Dallas, and other partners, launched this year’s Dental and Health Screening and Donation Drive at Agona Kwaman in the Agona West Municipality of the Central Region on Monday.
The initiative saw more than 600 residents from Agona Kwaman and surrounding communities benefit from free health services.
“We are excited to kickstart this year’s Dental and Health Screening and Donation Drive, a vital initiative aimed at improving community health and well-being.
“Starting today, our team of dedicated healthcare professionals will be offering free medical and dental check-ups, health education, and essential donations to support families and individuals in need,” said Hon. Mrs. Justina Marigold Assan, Founder of the Marigold Foundation, during the opening of the exercise.
Mrs. Assan emphasized that dental health, though critical, is often neglected and left in the hands of individuals to manage without adequate support.
She expressed concern about the growing risk of dental-related diseases, especially among children, and called for a collective effort to raise awareness and provide access to dental care.
“It is worthy to note that most of the patients screened in today’s exercise were children of school going age who needs good oral surgery.
“Every exercise was Free of charge and we are happy that Marigold Foundation and its partners are offering this Dental Health and Screening exercise as well as intensifying public education on Oral health.
“All hands must be on deck to support the well-being of individuals who finds it difficult to attend health facilities for medical treatment due to financial constraints.
“We must be each other’s keeper by assisting people who do not have the means of getting the needed healthcare delivery in our various communities. ‘Service to Mankind is Service to God,'” she stated.
Mrs. Assan, who previously served as the Central Regional Minister under the NPP government, reiterated the Foundation’s commitment to improving lives across Ghana. She noted that the Foundation is not only focused on healthcare but also actively supports quality education, clean drinking water, environmental sanitation, and other essential social services.
Reflecting on the day’s activities, she added: “What an incredible day it has been! We started with so much energy and excitement, and the response from the community was simply amazing. From thorough dental checks to vital health screenings, today’s event was all about promoting wellness and ensuring that our people are healthy and strong.
“A heartfelt thank you to our dedicated health professionals, volunteers, and every community member who showed up. Your commitment to good health made today’s exercise a remarkable success.
“With this momentum, we eagerly look forward to the next screening sessions at Gomoa Brofoyedur in the Gomoa Central District and Senya Bereku in the Awutu-Senya West District. Let’s keep the spirit high as we take healthcare closer to the people one community at a time.”
The Chief of Agona Kwaman, Nana Opeiku Yeboah VI, also expressed gratitude to the Marigold Foundation and its partners for making essential healthcare accessible to the people. He described the initiative as timely and impactful.
Other notable attendees included the former Presiding Member of the Agona West Municipal Assembly, Hon. Frank Kwesi Abban, and sub-chiefs from the traditional area.
