Customers of Northern Electricity Distribution Company NEDCo’s Sunyani Area Office in Berekum East owe the company GHC32 million in unpaid electricity bills, according to Station Officer Eric Anin Donkor.
He said the huge debt was hampering the company’s operations, adding that NEDCo was determined to retrieve at least GHC20 million through an ongoing mass disconnection exercise.
Speaking to the media during phase seven of the company’s revenue mobilization and loss control initiative, Mr. Donkor said many defaulting customers had already been disconnected from the national grid.
He stressed that customers would remain disconnected until they settled their arrears and warned that some defaulters could face prosecution.
At Fetentaa, management of the Weddi Africa Tomato Processing Company, which owes GHC215,000, signed a repayment agreement with NEDCo to settle the debt.
