The Young African Women Congress (YAWC) Network is a fraternity of young women of African descent living in Africa and in the diaspora, who seek to be empowered and be themselves, change-makers for leadership and development on the continent.

At the heart of its mandate is the mobilisation of women from the grassroots level for leadership and development through advocacy, training and projects.

The appointment of Madam Mavis Amegah, therefore, falls in line with the Network’s goal of bringing on board the best of individuals, especially women achievers, from across various fields to impact the African woman both at home and in the diaspora.

In a letter addressed to Ms Amegah, Founder and Executive Chairperson of the YAWC Network, Mr. Daniel Osei Tuffuor, expressed the belief that Madam Amegah would bring her expertise on board fully as they embark on the journey to empower women across the African continent and beyond.

Responsibilities
She is expected to, in her role as the Director of Government Relations for the Network, build and maintain relationships with government officials and government agencies to advocate for the Network’s interests through the monitoring of legislative and executive activities, identifying potential policy impacts, developing strategic advocacy plans, and lobbying on key issues including partnerships to achieve desired outcomes.

Some of her key responsibilities include legislative and executive monitoring; stakeholder engagement; policy analysis, as well as advocacy and partnership strategy development.

Also, as a member of the YAWC Network Global Governing Council, she will be responsible for participating in the provision of strategic oversight and decision-making on behalf of the Network, typically by actively participating in meetings, reviewing key performance indicators, setting policies, and ensuring the organization aligns with its mission and vision, while collaborating with the leadership team to achieve organizational goals.

Some of her key responsibilities also include strategic planning; policy development; financial oversight; leadership selection and evaluation.

Her appointment to both roles is for a period of two years, which is renewable after completion of a tenure.

About Mavis Amegah
Mavis Amegah is a highly accomplished professional known for her extensive expertise in tax compliance, legal affairs, and accounting principles.

With a stellar academic background that includes a Master of Laws (LLM) from the University of Ghana School of Law; a Bachelor of Laws (LLB) from Central University College; a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from the Ghana Technology University; and a Higher National Diploma in Accounting from Ho Technical University; Mavis Amegah is well-equipped to navigate complex legal and financial landscapes.

In her current role as a Tax & Compliance Manager at Olam Agri Ghana Ltd, Mavis has been instrumental in leading tax compliance efforts, ensuring adherence to all relevant regulations and laws.

She is not only proficient in tax planning and compliance but also possesses a strong understanding of legal principles and regulations. Her excellent analytical and research skills, coupled with her ability to communicate complex concepts effectively, make her an invaluable asset in any professional setting.
