Miss Sarah Mensah, a Senior Midwife and Biakoye District President of the Union of Professional Nurses and Midwives, Ghana (UPNMG), has transformed a personal milestone into a life-changing breakthrough for her community.
After receiving the prestigious DAISY International Award for her dedication to maternal care, a conversation with a U.S. visitor at the ceremony led to an unexpected chain of events.
The visitor, whose late mother coincidentally hailed from Worawora, later toured the hospital and witnessed its dire need for equipment.
Back in the U.S., she rallied support, leading to the donation and delivery of a 40-foot container filled with hospital essentials—beds, IV poles, crutches, bassinets, bedside tables, cabinets, examination beds, consumables, and a washing machine.
The donation was made possible through Towson University, St. Joseph’s Hospital, Nana Yaa Omole, Kalo Omole, Sylvia Kusi, and the Worawora community abroad in North America, Canada, and London.
