The Ministry of Tourism, Culture and Creative Arts has organised an intensive orientation program for newly-appointed heads of agencies and their deputies.

The initiative aims to equip the new leaders with the knowledge and skills necessary to effectively steer their institutions and align their work with the government’s national development agenda.

The training session covered a broad range of topics including public service regulations, operational guidelines, and organizational values.

The goal is to help the new appointees gain a deeper understanding of their responsibilities and the framework within which they operate.

In her opening remarks, the sector minister, Abla Dzifa Gomashie, emphasised the importance of the orientation, reflecting on her own early days in public service.

“When I joined the civil service, there were a lot of things I didn’t understand, and it wasn’t a pleasant experience,” she said, while adding that; “This orientation is designed to ensure that our new leaders are not left to figure things out the hard way. We want to equip them with the right foundation to lead effectively and to serve with purpose.”

The minister underscored that the orientation is part of a broader strategy to enhance leadership across the sector and to improve the delivery of government programs.

Resource persons for the program were drawn from key institutions including the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration, the Public Services Commission, and the Office of the Head of Civil Service.

These experts provided valuable insights into public sector operations, leadership expectations, and inter-agency collaboration.

The orientation also provided an opportunity for networking and knowledge sharing among the new agency heads and their deputies, fostering a spirit of cooperation and mutual support.
