The Minority Caucus in Parliament has formally petitioned the Speaker, Rt. Hon. Alban Kingsford Sumana Bagbin, expressing their strong disapproval of an alleged attempt by the National Intelligence Bureau (NIB) to arrest Member of Parliament Rev. John Ntim Fordjour.
According to the petition, signed by the Minority Chief Whip, Hon. Annoh-Dompreh, the attempted arrest occurred on Wednesday, April 9th, 2025, at MP Ntim Fordjour’s residence.
The Minority argues that this action disregards established parliamentary protocols and undermines the dignity and sanctity of Parliament.
The petition references previous directives from the Speaker, aimed at ensuring that MPs are approached through proper channels when investigations or related matters arise.
It also highlights a letter addressed to the NIB on April 2nd, 2025, reiterating these protocols, which are grounded in Articles 117 and 118 of the 1992 Constitution.

The Minority further alleges that the attempted arrest of MP Ntim Fordjour is not an isolated incident, citing similar attempts to engage MPs Yabga/Kubori, Hon. Mustapha Usif, and Hon. Kwame Asare Obeng.
They argue that these actions pose a threat to the separation of powers and the respect accorded to elected representatives.
The petition urges the Speaker to take urgent steps to reaffirm the earlier directives and engage national security heads to ensure that interactions with MPs are conducted in accordance with the Constitution and with the decorum befitting their status as representatives of the people.
