Health authorities have confirmed a rise in Mpox infections, urging the public to remain alert and adhere to preventive measures to curb further spread.
According to the Ghana Health Service (GHS), nine new cases were recorded as of June 18, increasing the total number of confirmed cases to 107 across the country. Fortunately, there have been no reported deaths, and no patients are currently hospitalised.
In its latest situational update, the GHS noted that contact tracing efforts are ongoing and called on the public not to let their guard down, especially as health surveillance is being intensified in various regions.
The Service also warned that case numbers are likely to rise as monitoring efforts expand. Nearly all regions in Ghana have reported Mpox infections so far.
Members of the public are encouraged to promptly seek medical attention if they experience unusual skin rashes or flu-like symptoms, as early diagnosis and treatment are critical in containing the virus.
