MTN Ghana Gives Start-up Tools To 12 Youth Trained In Mobile Phone Repairs At Nyinahini

Twelve young people in the Atwima Mponua District have received start-up tools from MTN Ghana’s Northern Business District after completing a three-week training program in mobile phone repairs at Nyinahin.

The training, designed to equip participants with practical skills for self-employment, ended with a presentation of tools including multimeters, precision screwdrivers, and other essential equipment for mobile phone repairs. The donation took place on Friday, June 20, 2025, during a visit by MTN officials to the company’s Data Center in Nyinahin.

The intensive training covered key technical areas such as IC fault detection, screen and charging repairs, speaker and sound issues, network faults, iCloud bypass, SIM unlocking, decoding, iCloud removal, and FRP/Google lock removal.

The initiative formed part of this year’s “21 Days of Y’ello Care,” MTN’s flagship employee volunteerism program which ran from June 1 to June 21. The 2025 edition was themed, “Connecting at the Roots – Connecting Communities through the Use of Digital Tools,” and focused on tackling digital exclusion in rural and underserved communities.

By providing the start-up tools, MTN aims to empower the trainees to launch their own businesses and share their newly acquired knowledge with others in their communities. Each participant also received a certificate of completion.

Charles Osei Akoto, Head of Technical at MTN Northern Business District, praised the trainees for their dedication and strong performance during the program. He urged them to keep upgrading their skills, especially in an era where artificial intelligence continues to impact traditional employment options.

Speaking on behalf of the beneficiaries, Peter Armah Bonsu expressed gratitude to MTN Ghana, describing the training as life-changing.

“Before the training, I had no idea how to fix even the simplest phone issues,” he said. “We are grateful for this opportunity and hope MTN extends similar programs to other communities.”
