The Muslim community in the Agona East District of the Central Region joined millions of Muslims worldwide last Monday to celebrate this year’s Eid-Ul-Fitr. During this occasion, they called on young Muslims to adhere strictly to the teachings of Islam.
The Agona East District Chief Imam, Alhaji Ibrahim Jabir, emphasized the importance of maintaining the same positive behavior exhibited during the holy month of Ramadan, which promotes a godly lifestyle.
“Let us stay away from illicit acts that ruin lives and continue to live peacefully with one another—this is the essence of Islamic teachings. Throughout the month of Ramadan, we kept ourselves pure and clean, so it is crucial that we remain steadfast in our faith and trust in Allah’s blessings,” he stated.
Alhaji Ibrahim Jabir also expressed concern about some Muslim youth engaging in hard drugs and other harmful substances, urging them to reject such behaviors.
“Let us continue to live as we did during the 30 days of fasting, which brought us closer to Allah. This commitment should not be just a fleeting moment,” he stressed.
The Chief Imam advised young people to pursue education to the highest level, highlighting its significance as a key to personal development.
“Muslim youth must aim high in their educational pursuits so they can secure lucrative jobs to support themselves and their families. It is time for parents in the Zongo communities to invest in and encourage their children to attend school. This is the only way to eradicate financial constraints from our midst,” he stated.
Alhaji Ibrahim Jabir concluded by praying for His Excellency President John Dramani Mahama and the nation, encouraging Ghanaians to support the NDC government in achieving its Resetting Agenda.
