Muslims in Ashaiman express gratitude to PresidentMahama for a two-day holiday

Some Muslims in the Ashaiman Municipality have observed this year’s Eid-ul-Fitr prayers, expressing gratitude to President John Dramani Mahama for declaring a two-day holiday for the celebration.

They noted that the two days would enable them to have a good celebration and also rest after the 30-day Ramadan fast.

Alhaji Abosakofo Tsijala, the Public Relations Officer of the Council of Muslim Chiefs (JIHAD), in Ashiaman, eulogised the president for the Muslim holidays, indicating that Muslims were grateful and prayed for Allah’s blessings for him and the country.

Alhaji Tsijala also commended security personnel, especially the military, for ensuring a peaceful Eid celebration in the Ashaiman Municipality.

He advised motor riders to be cautious on the road while celebrating Eid, reminding them that while they rejoice, potential dangers still exist; therefore, they need to be prudent in their riding to ensure safety.

Meanwhile, some celebrants noted that the day was not only for celebration but also for reflection and prayers for Allah’s guidance.

In an interview with the Ghana News Agency (GNA), Mr Fatawu Sulleymana, a Muslim, expressed gratitude to Allah for a successful fasting period and advised the youth to continue to support each other, show compassion to the less fortunate and uphold the principles of peace and harmony just as they did during Ramadan.

Mr Sayid Issah, an Okada rider and Eid celebrant, called on the leaders and residents of Ashaiman to work together by ensuring peace and development after the celebration.

He encouraged the youth to remain committed to education and ethical values, noting that a strong moral foundation was essential for success, reiterating the call on all to be charitable and kind to the needy to gain more blessings from Allah.
