Former Member of Parliament for Assin Central, Kennedy Ohene Agyapong, says his greatest wish on his 65th birthday is to become Ghana’s President in 2029.

According to him, he remains confident that he will be sworn in as President on January 7, 2029, after winning the 2028 general elections.

“I pray to become the next president of Ghana, and I know, God willing, I’ll be sworn in January 2029,” he said in an interview with Nene Odompleh of 1957 News during his birthday celebration on Monday, June 16.

“That’s my best wish — to become the president-elect of Ghana in 2028 and be sworn in on January 7, 2029,” he added.

Mr. Agyapong, who has formally declared his intention to run for the New Patriotic Party (NPP) flagbearer slot again, previously contested in the party’s 2023 presidential primaries but lost.

Speaking to the media on April 30, he insisted that he would not step aside in the next race, stressing his long-standing dedication to the party.

“I want everybody to know — every party member — that I’m going to contest, so they should be ready. And respectfully, nobody can tell me to back off. I will not back off, because we started from the 1990s till now,” he stated.

“At the appropriate time, I assure them that we are also going to campaign,” he added.
